The End Of My Coursework

I have successfully completed my coursework for Media A2.

I began with the preliminary stage, learning the basics of camera work and learning the ropes on Premiere Pro. Me and my group successfully completed the preliminary stage, where we learned how to edit and sync lyrics with the actors lips on screen.

For the research and planning stage, we completed the necessary paperwork in order to proceed to the practical stage. We filled out the location release forms in order to use a certain area to film etc, we filled out and got our actors to sign the talent release form allowing them to act/perform in our video.
We had to complete a recce report and a risk assessment.

For the practical stage we put together our video using Premiere Pro. We filmed on a camcorder and we used a tripod to steady our shots. We made use of the lighting equipment to make our studio scenes more effective in our video and more attractive so that when the audience view our content they are not being bored by it.

When editing we used Premiere Pro to our disposal. We used different tools to edit our video to perfection and make it a professional music video.   Using the blending options we made our video more attractive, blending different colours together to make something new and attractive. This looked especially attractive since the video was fast paced so there was a lot for them to see and look forward to.

When it came to our digipacks we had to, sketch, plan and edit them individually. I myself took shots from different angles so I had more to work with. I used different elements of urban rap culture. I also included designs and styles seen in my case studies. For example across my print outs, the house style I used was taken from J Hus's "The 15th Day." Pathetic Fallacy (emotions are displayed by the environment around the character) was used a lot since emotions were a big thing in our project.

For the evaluation stage, there were four questions, in which I had to outline key concepts in my project, critical theory, post modernism etc (Q1 Prezi). In question 2 (prezi) I had to explore my print outs and music video, how they work as a package, how they compare with real media texts etc. In question 3 I had to expand on audience feedback. I did this suing the website creation software, Wix. For question 4 I was tasked with discussing in detail the media technologies I used across the period of my coursework. How I used them, what I learned from using them and how my skills developed while using them.

I actually enjoyed putting this project together and I am pleased with the final result.

Issues: on blogger there were minor errors where the text would not display, so I improvised and highlighted the text so it is visible for my examiner to read.

Plans for 2nd Draft of Print Outs - CD Digipack and Magazine Advert

The first draft of the CD Digipack was successful and my teacher gave me feedback:

  • The edges and edited cover is perfect.
  • The edges and outline of the character are perfect and smooth and appear pleasing and attractive to the eye.
  • However the actual choice of shots are too similar and appear identical, therefore you will need to take some new pictures for your second draft and if possible feature a different costume, since the black nike tracksuit is a little over used. Go with a bit of grey as seen in your music video.

I am now in the process of taking new pictures for my CD Digipack.
